Being a student, I am but all too familiar with the fact that school related stress can get the best of people and it if for this reason that I think it is important to learn how to deal with it properly

I would say the most important thing to alleviate school related stress is to be organized, I like to make biweekly calendars to schedule my work time for big tests that I know will take me several days or weeks to prepare for. I also think prioritizing one’s involvement in extracurricular is key, at the beginning of the year, I like to choose one or two things that I know I can commit to (such as a team sport, club, etc), because spreading yourself too thin is never a good thing.

I also take my health quite seriously, seven to eight hours of sleep per night, 3 workouts a week, healthy eating and quick meditation sessions really do go a long way for me (let’s be honest, when your body is happy, so is your mind). If you can maintain all these consistently then I think you can be better equipped to deal with the stress that finals bring.

Lastly, when stressed, I like to turn to this quote by David Allen (productivity consultant and creator of “Getting Things Done”) for inspiration, “Much of the stress that people feel doesn’t come from having too much to do. It comes from not finishing what they’ve started.”
